MAGMA Advanced Parallel Sp Single DMA Parallel Port: Memory Access (DMA)Sun SBus expansion board featuring a "Centronics" parallel port thatsupports IEEE Standard 1284 protocols and provides a bi-directionaltransfer rate of up to 2 MB per second. It is fully compatible with SunMicrosystems(TM) SPARC(R) computers and other computers compliant withSPARC(R) International SBus specifications. Hardware: The MAGMA AdvancedParallel Sp is based on the Intel 82091AA, an advanced integrated I/Osolution. It consists of a ASIC processor that controls the parallelinterface and a DMA controller that serves as the interface to the SBus.The parallel port is configured as a Centronics compatible interface.When transmitting, the DMA controller transfers data from the CPU memoryto the 82091AA for transmission to the Centronics interface. Aninterrupt occurs only when all of the data has been transferred, thusminimizing CPU overhead. When receiving, the 82091AA provides data tothe DMA controller for transfer to the CPU memory. Software: The MAGMAAdvanced Parallel Sp device driver is designed to take advantage of theboard's high speed parallel capabilities. The driver is compatible withSolaris(R) 2.x and SunOS(TM) 4.1+ and supports all features of bothsystems. It is delivered on a 3.5" diskette and features "22plug andplay" installation.
